🍚 Challenge Accepted: Perde Pilavi!
The kitchen came alive with aroma, laughter, and learning during our 2nd Cooking Class at Gracious Hands Women’s Shelter, hosted by Mosaic of Charlotte. The spotlight dish? Perde Pilavi, affectionately known as “veil rice”—a traditional Turkish entrée wrapped in pastry and baked to golden perfection.
This stunning dish combines fragrant rice, seasoned chicken, and crunchy nuts, symbolizing care, heritage, and artistry all in one bite.
❤️ More Than a Meal—A Moment of Unity
As participants worked side by side—rolling dough, seasoning ingredients, and shaping their creations—the real magic unfolded. Conversations blossomed, laughter echoed, and a sense of belonging filled the room.
These classes go beyond the plate. They are about:
Preserving cultural heritage
Fostering community bonds
Empowering individuals through creativity and collaboration
👩🍳 A Recipe for Togetherness
Perde Pilavi was more than a cooking lesson—it became a shared experience of expression and care. Everyone left not just with full bellies, but with full hearts.
We are deeply thankful to the residents and staff at Gracious Hands for welcoming us into their space once again and for making each moment meaningful.
