Mosaic of Charlotte spent a meaningful day at Moore Place, sharing food, culture, and time through a hands-on cooking experience. Our team introduced residents to Turkish Pide, a traditional boat-shaped flatbread that is as fun to make as it is to eat.
At Moore Place, we believe that providing a meal is important, but providing an experience builds lasting dignity and friendship.
👩‍🍳 The Art of the Pide
The kitchen hummed with activity as residents rolled up their sleeves and got to work. Pide is unique because of its distinct shape and variety of fillings, allowing everyone to put their own personal touch on their meal.
Hand-Shaped Traditions: Residents learned how to roll out the dough and pinch the ends to create the iconic “boat” shape.
Savory Fillings: Each pide was filled with seasoned ground beef and melted cheese before being baked to golden perfection.
Shared Rhythms: Cooking side by side created an easy flow of conversation, learning, and laughter, turning the kitchen into a space of genuine connection.
✨ More Than a Meal: A Space for Belonging
Once again, food became the bridge that connected us all. The process—from the first dusting of flour to the final bite of the finished meal—made the experience feel personal and shared.
“When we share our food, we share our hearts. When we cook together, we build a home.”
These moments remind us that the simple act of preparing a meal together can transform an afternoon into a powerful experience of warmth and belonging.
