Bringing People Together Through Cooking: A Special Class at Moore Place Shelter

At Mosaic of Charlotte, we believe that food is more than just sustenance—it’s a way to build community, share traditions, and create meaningful connections. Our recent Cooking Class at Moore Place Shelter was a perfect example of how cooking together can bring joy and togetherness.

A Hands-On Culinary Experience

During our 2nd Cooking Class at Moore Place, participants had the opportunity to learn how to make Shish Kebab & Lavash from scratch. Guided by experienced mentors, everyone got hands-on with the process, rolling out the dough, preparing the skewers, and cooking these delicious dishes to perfection.

The experience was about more than just following a recipe—it was about engagement, learning, and teamwork. Whether it was someone trying their hand at making Lavash for the first time or perfecting the art of grilling kebabs, each moment was filled with excitement and discovery.

More Than Just a Meal

Beyond the incredible food, the class was about connection and community. As participants worked together, they shared stories, laughter, and encouragement, proving once again that the kitchen is a place where friendships are made.

At Moore Place Shelter, this initiative not only provided an enriching experience but also reinforced the idea that everyone deserves the warmth of a homemade meal and the company of caring individuals.

Looking Ahead

We’re already looking forward to our next Cooking Class! Each session offers an opportunity to explore different cuisines, learn new skills, and most importantly, come together in the spirit of community service and compassion.

Stay tuned for more updates, and if you’d like to join us or support our programs, we’d love to hear from you!
