First Cooking Class at Gracious Hands Women’s Shelter

🌱 Cooking, Culture, and Community Begin Here

Mosaic of Charlotte proudly launched its first cooking class at Gracious Hands Women’s Shelter, creating a welcoming space for learning, sharing, and bonding through food. The featured dish? Lahmacun—a savory Turkish flatbread topped with a flavorful mix of meat, vegetables, and spices.

Participants rolled up their sleeves and dove into the process, learning how to make this beloved recipe from scratch in a hands-on, heartwarming experience.

💚 A Table Full of Stories and Smiles

This wasn’t just about preparing food—it was about nurturing community.

As dough was rolled and toppings spread, stories were shared and laughter filled the room. These cooking classes offer more than a new dish—they offer:

  • Skill-building and empowerment

  • Cultural exchange and connection

  • Moments of dignity, joy, and celebration

🌟 A Meaningful First Step

We’re incredibly thankful to the residents and staff at Gracious Hands for welcoming us with open arms. This class marked the beginning of what we hope will be many shared experiences that uplift, unite, and inspire.

To everyone who helped make this first event a success—thank you. The warmth, enthusiasm, and collaboration shown were truly unforgettable.
