Mosaic of Charlotte recently spent a meaningful day at Moore’s Center, part of the Roof Above network, where a simple cooking class transformed into a powerful moment of connection and community.
In the kitchen, the distance between “volunteer” and “resident” disappears. When we create together, we build more than just a meal—we build a sense of home and mutual respect.
👩🍳 Teamwork by the Slice
There is something uniquely joyful about making pizza from scratch. It’s hands-on, creative, and requires everyone to pitch in.
Hands-On Connection: From rolling out the dough to choosing the perfect toppings, the residents were involved in every step of the process.
A Space for Laughter: As the pizzas baked and the aroma filled the room, the kitchen became a hub of natural conversation and shared jokes.
Confidence at the Table: Working side-by-side to create something delicious helps foster a sense of accomplishment and belonging.
